Process

The project began with extensive historical research into the Twin Cities' development, cultural identity, and existing brand perceptions. I explored vexillology principles to design flag concepts that could represent both cities while celebrating their individual characteristics. The logo and seal design process involved synthesizing regional symbolism, geographic elements, and contemporary design principles. Campaign visuals were developed to demonstrate how the rebrand could be applied across various touchpoints, from civic communications to cultural initiatives. The work balanced respect for heritage with forward-thinking design that reflected the region's innovation and diversity.

Outcome

Created a comprehensive brand identity system that reimagined how the Twin Cities could present themselves as a unified yet diverse region. The project included multiple flag design concepts grounded in vexillological best practices, modernized logo and seal options, and campaign materials that demonstrated the brand's versatility. The work sparked conversations about civic identity and provided a framework for how cities can approach regional branding with both historical awareness and contemporary design thinking.
